I became an attorney because I believe in protecting people — and in the NIL era, student-athletes are the people who need it most. Most of them are navigating a system that was never built for them, signing contracts drafted by parties with legal teams on their side, often without anyone in their corner who truly understands what they're agreeing to.

When NIL rights were first introduced in July 2021, I was a second-year law student at Georgia State University College of Law. While most people were focused on the excitement of athletes finally getting paid, I was focused on the contracts. With a concentrated emphasis on contract law throughout law school, I followed every NIL agreement, regulatory development, and headline story closely.

What I saw alarmed me. During my internship at a well-known sports agency, I reviewed NIL contracts firsthand — and the imbalance was worse than I expected. Most agreements were filled with vague, standardized language that favored the brand, agency, or collective. The athletes signing them had no attorney reviewing that language exclusively for them. Nobody was asking what was missing. Nobody was pushing back.

That's when I knew exactly what I needed to do. The NIL ecosystem had agents, managers, and brand attorneys. What it was missing was an independent legal advocate whose only client was the athlete. That gap became the foundation of Line by Line Legal & Counsel.

I am a licensed attorney in the State of Georgia, serving high school and college student-athletes nationwide.
